At the same time 'Cinema of Women', another distributor of women's film and video work, but defined as a feminist film distributor, was also in operation in London.
These two distributors complemented each other. Cinema of
Women's distribution tended towards more specific campaign films,
and films around particular issues. Whereas Circles tended
towards artists film which could embrace performance and expanded
cinema.
I composed something in my head, I would kneel down and
describe a scene that I had before, my cheeks all flushed, and
aspiring to be so full of integrity. Wanting to have the time to
talk and showing my commitment, in my mind I said "We are in
trouble, and we need to deal with this, whilst you have been
working and spending money, all the things you have been assuming
about our art we have been putting our bodies at risk, and this
is a testament to that" I was absolutely sure.
