The women of Circles supported each other practically, with equipment and in developing discussion and commentary by writing articles on one another's work.
In turn this support became a way of redefining some of the conditions
of making, distributing, exhibiting and educating about film, conditions
that women were applying by not simply accepting the status quo, which up to
that time seemed primarily defined and enforced by men.
