'Circles' was a film distribution practice, that focused on women's work, established in 1979 - 1980, the result of discussion between a number of women working at the London Filmmaker's Co-op including Felicity Sparrow, Lis Rhodes and Annabel Nicolson.
Initially ten women put in one film each and some money
towards the production of an A3 catalogue. Felicity Sparrow ran
the distribution from her flat, and women-only screenings were
organised at Four Corners in Roman road.
People were invited to come and talk, up in front about what
they knew of Sandra (Lahire). It was a bit like a Quaker Meeting,
people just standing up to say small things that became vast and
filled everything. Others had more prepared speeches.
