15th October

First London Filmmakers’ Co-operative screening

The first screening of the newly formed London Film-makers’ Co-op took place at the Round House in Chalk Farm on October 15th in celebration of the first issue of International Times, a London-based underground newspaper which, like The Village Voice in New York, would report on the arts and alternative political and social issues.

The all-night party featured poetry, performance art by Yoko Ono and others and performances by rock groups Soft Machine and Pink Floyd, with a six-hour film programme including work by Anthony Balch, John Latham and Stephen Dwoskin.

Reportedly, LSD-soaked sugar cubes were given away as prizes.
