filmasfilm Guy Sherwin 2004 endless loop b/w Silent 16 mm installation for 16 mm loop and adapted Steenbeck edit table

An installation made for the launch of the no.w.here film lab London in 2004. It uses a looped film of letterforms initially designed for the Hayward Gallery exhibition of 1979 ‘Film as Film’, but not used. The film runs slowly through the lab’s Steenbeck edit table, the optics of which have been pulled apart. An angled glass screen coated with a film of white powder causes multiple reflections of the projected loop.
