An optical reference to the process of ‘looking’. A comment on the process by which something ‘different’, ‘unknown’ and fluid, becomes ‘known’ and ‘fixed’.

Cast was produced during Erika Tan’s recent residency in Shanghai and was made in response to the sensations Tan experienced on encountering one of the particular features of the city. At night parks are illuminated with a green light, creating an incandescent glow. The lighting transforms the open spaces, and the resulting film has the potential to act as a trigger to the audience to connect with their own perception and experience.
