The artist embarks on a journey through Northern France in search of the people and places who can throw light on events that this quintessentially British officer never talked about in his lifetime. Her search for the hero-father is tempered by her subjectivity as she struggles to piece together a story in which he achieved a militaristic ideal of masculinity.
