Word paintings I did were disinterred. Face to the wall. This film is about time.
From 1975-6 my painting became increasingly abstracted; Conversation, using layers of torn text, collage, old posters, writing with a brush in acrylic paint, hosing it with water, layering the text over the canvas, obliterating parts of words and sentences, and Untitled, a six foot diptych of collaged posters painstakingly duplicated in thick oil paint applied with a palette knife over a period of 6 months, to make four panels. These paintings were replicated on a layer of 16mm film emulsion in Word Paintings, in 5 minutes.
