The film is about a family about to go on their summer holidays.

We watch their cosy world slowly disintegrating and the vulnerability of human existence is held up for all to see. The story is very black, autobiographical; a daydream that I often had as a child.

Voice and Super 8 are used as opposed to lip sync helping to create the feeling of an ongoing home movie, which the family have a semblance of control over.

There is then an accident which propels them into a new dimension over which they have no control. The transition is emphasised by dissolving into 16mm, and the use of occasional lip sync.

Their lives will never be the same again.
